Basic informations:
Federative Republic of Brazil is the largest country in South America. It’s the world’s fifth largest country (both, geographical area and population with over 192 million people). It is the only one Portuguese-speaking country in the Americas.
The Brazilian economy is the world’s sixth largest.
The climate of Brazil comprises a wide range of weather conditions across a large area and varied topography, but most of the country is tropical.
The Brazilian Federation is the "indissoluble union" of three distinct political entities: the States (there are 26 States), the Municipalities and the Federal District (which contains the capital of Brazil: Brasilia). The states and the federal district are grouped into regions: Northern, Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and Southern.
The form of government is that of democratic republic, with a presidential system. The current president is Dilma Rousseff.
Brazil has a very ethnic diversity, about five million people from over 60 countries migrated to the country between 1808 and 1972, most of them of Portuguese, Italian, Spaniard, German, Japanese and Middle Eastern origin.
